BIO

The "Salsa Chicago Mambo All-stars Band" was started in 2006 by Chicago Salsa Instructor, and back up vocalist Miguel Mendez, Chicago Pianist, Composer & Musical Director, Eliezer "Pepe" Armijos, and the one and only, Lead Sonero, Mr. Freddy Kenton.

Eliezer "Pepe" Armijos started his musical career in his teen years as a guitarist in his native Ecuador. From there he came to Chicago where he learned to play Timbales and became one of Chicago's most recognized Timbaleros. But he still wasn't done, he decided he wanted to play the piano and for the last 12 years the Piano has been his area of concentration.

Freddy Kenton is a musical Icon in his own as a lead vocalist. At the young age of 17 while living in the Dominican Republic, he joined Johnny Ventura's band, and performed with Tito Rodriguez' and Rafael Lobasta.

Freddy has produced dozens of cds and travels back and fourth between the Dominican Republic, New York and other U. S. cities including Puerto Rico sharing his music and on stage antics.

Miguel Mendez is one of Chicago's most recognized Salsa dance Instructors with over 15 years of teaching experience and has taught tens of thousands of Chicagoans how to dance. For the last year, Miguel has been honing his vocal abilities as a background singer with the SalsaChicago Mambo All-stars.

The remaining musicians come from a vast pool of highly talented Chicago musicians which include Jose Losada, Rafael "Felito" Perez, Jose Acevedo, Nael Jaime, Jose Hernandez, Eliud "El Topo" Diaz, Jayson Martiaz Baez, Tato "Suave" Otero, Efrain Otero, Willie "Conga" Belez, Raymond Soto, Victor Cadiz, Pasqual Soriano and many more that would make for a second page.

The SalsaChicago Mambo All-stars play a vast repertoire of music including Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Mambo, Latin Jazz, Boleros, Cha Cha Cha, Guajira, Cumbia and more.

The purpose of the SalsaChicago Mambo All-stars is to provide a platform to keep Chicago's musician's performing.
