Friday, June 11, 2004: The Pan
American Celebration at US Cellular Field was a
great success! The Chicago White Sox certainly know
how to entertain their Fans! There were 5 orchestras
scattered throughout the complex including several
Latin orchestras; Caribbean Swing, Eliezer y Nuevo
Tumbao, Jesus Enriquez accompanying Kevin Ceballos,
Los Bandoleros and the Business.
In addition to the orchestras,
the organizers made sure that dancers were also
part of the festivities. Los Soneros Del Swing from
Chicago's Dance Academy of Salsa performed a hot
Mambo routine on the field as part of the pre-game
show. They also accompanied a new Chicago rising
star "Gino" as he sang a hot Merengue then proceeded
to sing the National Anthem.
SalsaChicago.com had two of its
Latin orchestras in the house on the upper level.
As people stepped off the escalators, they were
greeted with the hot sounds of Latin Music. Many
of them stopped to squeeze in a dance or two, some
came back between innings just to enjoy the music.
The day was a bit gray and rain
was in the forecast, but at least it didn't rain
and the evening turned out to be spectacular. Unfortunately,
the White Sox lost to the Atlanta Braves 6-4 but
not after a valiant effort in the late innings.
Overall, it was a good game and
a fun way to spend a Friday evening and for that
we say, "GO White Sox GO!"
